Youth Support Worker

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Youth Support Worker to join their team, offering services remotely to young people in Portsmouth and the surrounding areas. This role involves providing essential guidance, mentorship, and support to young individuals, helping them navigate personal challenges, develop life skills, and work towards positive futures. Operating primarily from a remote setting, you will utilise digital platforms to engage with young people, offer emotional support, and connect them with relevant resources. Key Responsibilities

• Engage with young people through online platforms, including video calls, chat, and social media, to build rapport and trust.
• Provide emotional support, advice, and guidance on issues such as education, employment, mental health, and relationships.
• Develop and implement personalised support plans to help young people achieve their goals.
• Facilitate virtual workshops and activities focused on developing life skills, resilience, and positive coping mechanisms.
• Signpost young people to appropriate external services and agencies when needed, and support them in accessing these.
• Maintain accurate and confidential records of interactions and progress using designated digital systems.

Requirements

• Experience working with young people in a support, mentoring, or youth work capacity.
• Understanding of the challenges and needs faced by young people today.
• Excellent communication, active listening, and interpersonal skills, adapted for online interaction.
• Proficiency in using digital communication tools, social media, and basic IT systems.
• Awareness of safeguarding policies and procedures related to working with children and young adults.
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and maintain a positive and encouraging attitude.
