About the Role
Our client is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Youth Support Worker to join their team, offering remote and potentially some face-to-face support to young people in Southampton . This role is focused on providing guidance, mentoring, and support to young people, helping them to navigate challenges, develop life skills, and achieve their potential. You will engage with young people through various digital platforms, offering a safe space for them to discuss issues, access resources, and build confidence, all within a supportive framework designed to promote positive futures.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with young people remotely through digital channels (e.g., video calls, instant messaging, social media platforms).
- Provide emotional support, guidance, and mentoring on a range of issues including education, relationships, and well-being.
- Assist young people in developing life skills such as budgeting, problem-solving, and healthy living.
- Signpost young people to relevant external services and resources when appropriate.
- Maintain clear and accurate records of interactions and progress.
- Collaborate with colleagues and external agencies to ensure comprehensive support for young people.
Requirements
- Experience working with young people in a support, mentoring, or youth work capacity.
- Understanding of the challenges and needs faced by young people today.
- Excellent communication and active listening skills, with the ability to build rapport quickly.
- Proficiency in using digital communication tools and comfortable working in an online environment.
- Patience, empathy, and a non-judgmental approach.
- Willingness to undertake further training related to youth support and safeguarding.
