Private Client Legal Assistant

Our client, a professional Law firm based in Brentwood are looking for an experienced Legal Secretary / Team Assistant with recent Private Client Law experience to join their team on a full-time permanent basis. The ideal candidate for this role will have strong legal secretarial skills, be highly organised and be a strong team player who is confident in managing busy diaries, digital dictation and a wide range of administration and secretarial duties.

The Role

The Legal Secretary / Team Assistant (Private Client) role will include: -

* Providing typing and administrative support to one or more lawyers

* Opening files on TFB and physical files

* Carrying out ID checks and money laundering checks

* Carrying out all necessary conflict checks, recording results, and notifying the lawyer of any issues arising

* Completing forms – Oyez etc and saving in TFB

* Preparing bills and draft narratives

* Attending to client to take delivery of documentation dropped in etc

* Telephoning clients and following up client enquires as directed

* Taking credit card payments

* Booking events, training etc and diarising for fee earners and colleagues

* Making tea or coffee for meetings and providing cover for reception when required.

You will need: -

* Strong legal secretarial skills & knowledge / experience in Private Client Law.

* Strong spelling, grammar, and interpersonal and communication skills.

* Excellent knowledge of all MS packages and ideally Partners for Windows.

* Experience of third-party applications e.g. Land Registry, Bighand, Oyez etc.

* To be self-motivated with a “can do” flexible approach.

* The ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced Legal environment.

* To be proactive and takes ownership of issues and offers solutions.

* Have excellent organisation skills and a strong attention to detail.

* Be a strong team player who is also able to work on your own initiative.
