This growing East Yorkshire-based engineering and manufacturing business specialises in the design and manufacture products and technology across naval defence, offshore energy, marine research and environmental monitoring sectors. With in-house manufacturing, continued investment and high-value global projects, this is a great opportunity to join a highly specialist engineering business.

The Role

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you’ll be responsible for full-lifecycle product design, from concept through to test. You’ll lead the design of complex mechanical housings, jigs and tooling using SolidWorks (with PDM), while working closely with suppliers, production teams and customers.

Key duties:

* Designing and detailing complex parts and assemblies

* Working with steel, bronze, aluminium and specialist plastics

* Creating 2D and 3D drawings, BOMs and work instructions

* Supporting testing and validation, including on-site testing

* Liaising with suppliers and internal departments to meet technical requirements

The Person

* Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical design, ideally in fabrication, machined parts or precision components

* Strong SolidWorks skills, including PDM

* A good understanding of mechanical materials and manufacturing processes

* Comfortable leading small projects and contributing to cross-functional teams

* Knowledge of sonar or marine equipment is a bonus, but not essential
