3D Environment Artist

About the Role

Our client, a celebrated studio in the historic city of Edinburgh , is seeking a talented 3D Environment Artist to craft breathtaking virtual worlds for their next major game title. You will be responsible for creating high-quality 3D assets, from initial blockout to final polish, contributing to the overall visual narrative and immersive atmosphere of the game. Working within a passionate art team, you will play a key role in shaping the look and feel of the game's environments, ensuring they are both visually stunning and technically optimized. Key Responsibilities

• Model, sculpt, and texture high-quality environment assets, including architecture, props, and natural elements.
• Assemble and lay out environments within the game engine, focusing on composition, storytelling, and player guidance.
• Implement and optimize assets for performance, ensuring smooth frame rates and efficient memory usage.
• Collaborate with level designers and art directors to realize the visual goals of the project.
• Develop and maintain a consistent art style across all environmental elements.
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends and new technologies in environment art creation.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience as a 3D Environment Artist in the game industry, with a portfolio showcasing high-quality environment work.
• Proficiency in 3D modeling and sculpting software such as Maya, 3ds Max, ZBrush, and Substance Painter.
• Strong understanding of Unreal Engine or Unity, including environment creation and optimization techniques.
• Excellent knowledge of PBR texturing workflows and material creation.
• Good sense of composition, form, color, and light.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and take direction effectively.
