Account Handler, New Business Support administrator

Commercial Insurance Account Handler, New Business Support administrator, Solihull West Midlands - £27k-£32k Hybrid, 3 days per week in the office

Are you an experienced Commercial Insurance Account Handler who enjoys working with clients, liaising with insurers and helping to get new business over the line?

Perhaps you enjoy the commercial side of insurance and would welcome the opportunity to become more involved in new business, without moving into a purely sales-focused role.

We are working with an established commercial insurance brokerage in the West Midlands that is looking for a proactive and organised Account Handler to join its New Business team.

This is a varied opportunity that combines handling your own incoming enquiries with supporting experienced New Business Executives, offering plenty of client interaction, insurer engagement and the opportunity to develop your career.

The Role

Working as part of the New Business team, you will take ownership of a proportion of the incoming enquiries generated through the company's website and telephone channels, while also providing valuable support to the wider team.

You will manage your own enquiries from initial fact-finding through to quotation and completion, typically dealing with smaller commercial insurance premiums below £1,500, although larger opportunities may arise.

Alongside this, you will work closely with the New Business Executives, helping with insurer communications, obtaining quotations, preparing submissions, chasing information and ensuring opportunities continue to progress.

The aim is to provide excellent service to prospective clients while helping the wider New Business team operate efficiently and focus on developing new opportunities.

For someone who enjoys being proactive and identifying additional business opportunities, there is also scope to become involved in lead generation and business development, although this is not an essential requirement of the position.

What You Will Be Doing

*

Taking ownership of incoming commercial insurance enquiries, managing them from initial contact through to completion.

*

Speaking with prospective clients to understand their requirements and gather the information needed to obtain quotations.

*

Obtaining quotations through insurer portals, Acturis eTrade and manual submissions.

*

Liaising with insurers to obtain terms, clarify information and progress opportunities.

*

Supporting the New Business Executives with risk presentations, market submissions and day-to-day administration.

*

Following up with clients and insurers to ensure enquiries and quotations continue to move forward.

*

Maintaining accurate client records, pipeline information and documentation within Acturis.

*

Managing client onboarding, policy documentation, invoicing and premium finance administration.

*

Helping to coordinate follow-ups, outstanding actions and administrative activities across the New Business team.

*

Building positive relationships with clients and insurers while delivering an excellent standard of service.

What We Are Looking For

We would love to hear from candidates who have experience within commercial insurance broking and enjoy a role that combines client interaction, technical insurance knowledge and strong organisation.

Ideally, you will bring:

*

Previous experience as a Commercial Insurance Account Handler, New Business Account Handler or within a similar commercial insurance broking role.

*

A good understanding of commercial insurance products and the quotation process.

*

Experience communicating directly with clients and insurers.

*

Confidence in gathering information, obtaining quotations and progressing enquiries.

*

Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple enquiries and priorities.

*

Experience using Acturis would be advantageous.

*

A proactive, positive approach and a willingness to get involved wherever needed to support the team.

You do not need to be an established New Business Executive or have experience generating your own leads.

What matters is that you understand commercial insurance, enjoy dealing with people and are comfortable taking ownership of enquiries while supporting the wider team.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

This is an opportunity to become an important part of an established brokerage's New Business function, with a good balance of client interaction, insurer relationships and Account Handling responsibilities.

You will have the opportunity to manage your own enquiries, develop your commercial knowledge and work alongside experienced New Business Executives.

For someone who is ambitious and interested in progressing their career, there is also genuine longer-term scope to develop into a New Business Executive position.

With hybrid working and a varied role that offers both independence and team collaboration, this could be a great next step for a Commercial Account Handler looking for something a little different.
