Job Description
Accounts Assistant |South Manchester| £25,000- £30,000 | Temp-to-permanent | Office-based, with one day working from home and part-time hours available.
Are you an ambitious Accounts Assistant looking for a role where you can gain exposure well beyond traditional transactional finance?
Axon Moore are working with a growing, entrepreneurial SME based in South Manchester that is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly organised Accounts Assistant / Finance Officer.
This is not a role where you’ll simply sit processing invoices all day. You’ll become part of the day-to-day running of the business, supporting both finance and wider operations while developing a strong understanding of how a growing international company works.
The role
Working closely with the senior finance team, you’ll take responsibility for a varied mix of transactional accounting, bookkeeping and general finance support.
Your responsibilities will include:
Sales ledger and purchase ledger Bank reconciliations Double-entry bookkeeping Supporting VAT returns Intercompany transactions Stock reconciliations General finance administration Assisting the wider sales and operational teams when required Helping ensure transactions are processed accurately from start to finish Supporting the finance function as the company continues to grow internationally The company currently uses Business Central, so previous exposure would be beneficial, although attitude and accounting fundamentals are more important.
Who are we looking for?
This business is much more interested in attitude, potential and attention to detail than finding somebody with years of experience.
You’re likely to suit the role if you:
Have some previous accounts or finance experience Understand the fundamentals of double-entry accounting Have experience with reconciliations and transactional finance Are organised, meticulous and naturally inquisitive Have the confidence to ask questions when you need to Take responsibility for seeing tasks through from start to finish Are enthusiastic about learning and developing your career Value honesty and integrity AAT studies or a relevant accounting qualification would be welcomed, but they’re not essential. Study support can be available once permanent, making this a particularly attractive opportunity for someone looking to develop their finance career.
Why consider this opportunity?
There’s genuine scope to grow with the company.
The business has a German subsidiary, creating exposure that you wouldn’t necessarily receive in a typical Accounts Assistant position, with opportunity to travel to their site.
You’ll be joining a small business where you can make your mark rather than becoming another number within a large finance department.
The package includes:
Salary in the mid £20,000s 25 days' holiday plus bank holidays Study support once permanent Core hours of 10am to 3pm Monday to Thursday, around standard working hours Potential flexibility to finish earlier on Fridays Free parking Excellent location next to the train station Christmas and summer social events Direct exposure to senior-level finance Genuine opportunity to develop as the business grows The opportunity
For somebody in the earlier stages of their finance career, this is a brilliant chance to learn.
You’ll receive support and handover from an experienced finance professional while gradually building your knowledge across transactional accounting, VAT, reconciliations and the wider commercial operation of the business.
The environment will particularly suit someone who is bright, enthusiastic, dependable and keen to get stuck in.
