Accounts Payable Specialist

Our client is looking for a meticulous and organised Accounts Payable Specialist to join their finance team in Southampton . This role is crucial for ensuring the efficient and accurate processing of all supplier invoices and payments. You will work closely with the procurement and finance departments to maintain strong vendor relationships and ensure timely settlement of all obligations. Key Responsibilities

• Process a high volume of supplier invoices accurately and efficiently, ensuring correct coding and authorisation.
• Verify the accuracy of vendor details and payment terms, maintaining an up-to-date vendor database.
• Prepare and execute weekly payment runs (BACS, CHAPS, international payments).
• Respond to vendor queries and resolve discrepancies in a timely and professional manner.
• Perform monthly reconciliations of supplier statements against the purchase ledger.
• Assist with month-end closing procedures related to the accounts payable function.

Requirements

• Proven experience in an Accounts Payable role.
• Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and processing.
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills to manage workload effectively.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with vendors and internal staff.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team and independently when required.
