About the Role
Our client is seeking a motivated and analytically minded Actuarial Assistant to join their team in Reading . This hybrid role offers an excellent foundation for a career in actuarial science, working alongside experienced actuaries to support the valuation of liabilities, pricing of insurance products, and financial modelling. You will assist in data analysis, model development, and the preparation of regulatory reports. This position is ideal for individuals with strong mathematical aptitude and a desire to pursue actuarial qualifications, offering a blend of structured office-based learning and remote work flexibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the development, validation, and maintenance of actuarial models for pricing, reserving, and financial reporting.
- Perform data extraction, cleaning, and analysis to support actuarial investigations and valuations.
- Contribute to the preparation of reports and documentation for internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
- Support senior actuaries in the assessment of financial risks and the evaluation of product profitability.
- Undertake actuarial examinations and pursue professional actuarial qualifications, with company sponsorship.
Requirements
- A strong academic record with a degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
- Demonstrated progress towards or strong intent to pursue actuarial exams (e.g., FIA, FSA).
- Proficiency in mathematical software (e.g., Excel, VBA) and ideally, programming languages like Python or R.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and quantitative skills.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
