Advocacy Officer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a passionate and driven Advocacy Officer to champion the rights and voices of vulnerable individuals within the Derby community. This role is fundamental in ensuring that service users are heard, understood, and have their needs met effectively. You will work directly with individuals to support them in expressing their views and making informed decisions, liaising with service providers and stakeholders to ensure their rights are upheld. Based in Derbyshire , this position requires a dedicated individual committed to social justice and empowering those who may find it difficult to speak for themselves, working collaboratively to improve care and support systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide independent advocacy support to individuals, helping them express their views and wishes.
• Assist clients in understanding their rights and options, empowering them to make informed choices.
• Accompany clients to meetings and appointments to provide support and ensure their voice is heard.
• Build and maintain relationships with statutory and voluntary sector services to facilitate effective advocacy.
• Gather feedback from service users regarding their experiences and present findings to relevant bodies.
• Maintain confidential records and provide reports on advocacy activities and outcomes.

Requirements

• Experience in advocacy, social work, community development, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of human rights, social justice issues, and relevant legislation.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build trust and rapport with diverse individuals, including those facing challenging circumstances.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage caseloads, and maintain professional boundaries.
