About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Aerospace Structures Engineer for a contract position, ideally based near Cardiff , but with a fully remote working arrangement. This role involves the analysis, design, and testing of aircraft structures and components, ensuring they meet stringent aerospace standards for strength, durability, and weight efficiency. You will be integral to projects involving new aircraft development and the modification of existing airframes, utilizing advanced simulation tools and analytical techniques. This is a prime opportunity for an experienced structural engineer to contribute their expertise to impactful aerospace projects from a remote setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform structural analysis using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software (e.g., ANSYS, NASTRAN) to assess stress, strain, and deformation.
- Design and optimize aircraft structural components, including fuselage sections, wings, and landing gear elements.
- Develop test plans and oversee structural testing to validate designs and ensure compliance with aerospace regulations.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are feasible for production and assembly.
- Document design decisions, analysis results, and test outcomes thoroughly in comprehensive engineering reports.
- Contribute to root cause analysis of structural failures or anomalies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Extensive experience in the structural analysis and design of aerospace components.
- Proficiency in FEA software and CAD tools relevant to aerospace design.
- Strong understanding of composite materials and metallic structures used in aircraft.
- Familiarity with aerospace structural testing methodologies and certification processes.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and remotely.
