About the Role
Our client is looking for a skilled Agricultural Agronomist to join their dynamic team in Portsmouth . This role focuses on providing expert advice and technical support to farmers and agricultural businesses, aiming to improve crop yields, soil health, and overall farm sustainability. You will conduct soil analysis, develop tailored crop management plans, and stay current with the latest agricultural innovations. The ideal candidate is passionate about plant science and soil health, with excellent communication skills to translate complex scientific information into practical, actionable advice for growers. This position offers the opportunity to work across diverse agricultural settings in Hampshire and contribute to efficient, environmentally conscious farming practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct soil testing and analysis to assess nutrient levels, pH, and soil structure.
- Develop and recommend comprehensive crop nutrition and fertilization programs.
- Advise on pest, disease, and weed management strategies, promoting integrated approaches.
- Evaluate crop performance and provide recommendations for improving yield and quality.
- Educate farmers and farm staff on best practices in agronomy and sustainable agriculture.
- Monitor agricultural trends and research new technologies and products.
- Maintain detailed records of client interactions, recommendations, and field observations.
Requirements
- Degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Agriculture, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in providing agronomic advice and services.
- Strong understanding of soil science, plant physiology, and crop production systems.
- Familiarity with soil and plant tissue analysis techniques.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and client relationship management skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple client accounts.
- A BASIS or FACTS qualification is highly desirable.
