Agricultural Estate Manager

About the Role

Our client is seeking a seasoned and strategic Agricultural Estate Manager to oversee a significant rural estate in Sheffield, South Yorkshire . This comprehensive role involves managing all aspects of the estate's agricultural operations, including crop production, livestock management, land stewardship, and financial oversight. You will be responsible for ensuring the estate is run efficiently, sustainably, and profitably, while maintaining its environmental integrity and heritage. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of modern agriculture, and a proven track record in managing large-scale rural properties and diverse teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute long-term strategic plans for the estate's agricultural and land management objectives.
• Oversee all day-to-day farming operations, including crop planning, planting, harvesting, and livestock care.
• Manage budgets, control costs, and maximize revenue streams from agricultural activities and other estate assets.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant agricultural, environmental, and health and safety legislation.
• Lead, motivate, and manage a team of farm staff, contractors, and estate personnel.
• Maintain and improve the infrastructure, land quality, and biodiversity of the estate.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in estate management or senior farm management, preferably in a large-scale setting.
• A strong understanding of both arable and livestock farming practices, as well as forestry and conservation.
• Demonstrated financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and business development.
• Proven leadership and team management skills, with the ability to effectively manage diverse staff.
• Knowledge of agricultural technology, sustainable practices, and environmental stewardship.
• A degree in Agriculture, Estate Management, or a related discipline is highly preferred.
