About the Role
Our client is looking for a skilled Agricultural Scientist to join their research and development team based in Newcastle upon Tyne . This role focuses on innovative solutions for enhancing crop yields and improving sustainable farming practices within the Tyne and Wear region. You will conduct research, analyze data, and contribute to the development of new agricultural technologies and methodologies. The position requires a blend of scientific expertise and practical understanding of agricultural challenges, aiming to drive progress in modern farming.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct field and laboratory research on crop performance, soil health, and pest management.
- Analyze experimental data using statistical software and present findings to the team and stakeholders.
- Develop and test new agricultural techniques and technologies to improve efficiency and sustainability.
- Collaborate with farmers and agricultural consultants to implement research findings on operational farms.
- Prepare technical reports, research papers, and grant proposals.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements and trends in agriculture and related scientific fields.
Requirements
- Master's or Ph.D. in Agronomy, Soil Science, Plant Science, or a related agricultural discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in agricultural research, experimental design, and data analysis.
- Knowledge of statistical software packages (e.g., R, SAS) and data visualization tools.
- Familiarity with current challenges and innovations in the agriculture sector.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical reporting and presentations.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a research setting.
