About the Role
Our client is seeking an adept Agricultural Technician with a specialization in soil science to join their innovative agricultural research and development team in Edinburgh . This role will involve conducting detailed soil analysis, developing soil health management plans, and advising on nutrient application and land remediation strategies. You will work closely with agronomists and farmers to improve soil fertility, optimize crop yields, and promote sustainable land use practices within Scotland's agricultural sector. Key Responsibilities
- Collect and analyze soil samples for physical, chemical, and biological properties.
- Interpret soil analysis data to provide recommendations for fertilization, liming, and soil amendment.
- Develop and implement strategies for improving soil structure, water retention, and nutrient cycling.
- Conduct field trials and experiments to evaluate the effectiveness of different soil management techniques.
- Advise farmers and agricultural consultants on best practices for soil health and sustainable land management.
- Maintain detailed records of soil testing, experimental data, and client recommendations.
- Stay abreast of the latest research and technologies in soil science and agricultural practices.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in Soil Science, Agronomy, Environmental Science, or a related agricultural discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in soil analysis and agricultural consulting.
- Proficiency in using laboratory equipment for soil testing and analysis.
- Strong understanding of soil chemistry, physics, and biology.
- Excellent data analysis and report writing skills.
- Familiarity with GIS and agricultural data management software is a plus.
