Agricultural Technician

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Agricultural Technician to support their diverse farming operations in Newcastle upon Tyne . This role involves providing essential technical support for farm machinery, irrigation systems, and advanced agricultural technologies. You will play a crucial part in ensuring the smooth running of daily operations by maintaining and troubleshooting essential equipment, contributing to efficiency and productivity. The successful candidate will be hands-on, detail-oriented, and passionate about the application of technology in modern agriculture, working as part of a dynamic team dedicated to agricultural innovation.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, and repair a range of agricultural machinery, including tractors, harvesters, and specialist equipment.
• Install, calibrate, and troubleshoot precision agriculture systems, GPS guidance, and sensor technology.
• Assist with the management and maintenance of irrigation systems and water management practices.
• Conduct routine inspections of farm infrastructure and equipment, identifying and rectifying potential issues.
• Provide technical support and training to farm staff on the use of new equipment and technologies.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and operational data.

Requirements

• Previous experience as an Agricultural Technician or in a similar mechanical/technical role within agriculture.
• Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing agricultural machinery and engines.
• Familiarity with precision farming technologies and data management systems.
• Strong understanding of hydraulic and electrical systems on farm equipment.
• A qualification in Agricultural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline is preferred.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a physically demanding environment.
