Agronomist

About the Role

Our client is looking for a highly qualified Agronomist to join their agricultural consultancy team, providing expert advice and solutions to farmers and growers in the Reading area and beyond. This role involves assessing crop health, soil conditions, and environmental factors to develop tailored recommendations that enhance yield, quality, and sustainability. The successful candidate will possess a strong scientific background, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to communicate complex information effectively to clients. This is a key role in promoting best practices and driving innovation in agriculture.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site assessments of crop health, soil fertility, and potential pest/disease issues.
• Analyze soil and plant tissue samples to determine nutrient deficiencies and recommend appropriate fertilization strategies.
• Develop integrated crop management plans tailored to specific farm needs and environmental conditions.
• Provide expert advice on seed selection, planting techniques, irrigation, and pest/disease control.
• Stay current with advancements in agricultural science, technology, and regulatory changes.
• Prepare detailed reports and present findings and recommendations to clients in a clear and concise manner.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Agriculture, or a related field.
• Proven experience as an Agronomist or in a similar agricultural advisory role.
• In-depth knowledge of crop physiology, soil science, and pest/disease management.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret scientific data.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and client relationship skills.
• Familiarity with agricultural software and data analysis tools is a plus.
