AI Ethics and Governance Lead

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced AI Ethics and Governance Lead to establish and drive their responsible AI strategy, operating in a fully remote capacity. This senior role involves creating and implementing comprehensive governance frameworks, policies, and procedures to ensure AI systems are developed and used ethically, fairly, and transparently. You will lead a cross-functional effort to embed ethical considerations into the entire AI lifecycle, mitigating risks and fostering trust with users and stakeholders. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a strategic roadmap for AI ethics and governance across the organization.
• Establish and manage an AI governance committee and associated operational processes.
• Create and implement policies for AI data privacy, bias detection, fairness, and accountability.
• Conduct ethical impact assessments and provide guidance on risk mitigation strategies for AI initiatives.
• Collaborate with legal, engineering, product, and compliance teams to ensure adherence to ethical standards and regulations.
• Develop and deliver training programs on responsible AI principles and practices to employees.

Requirements

• Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in a relevant field such as Law, Ethics, Public Policy, Data Science, or Computer Science.
• Significant experience (7+ years) in AI ethics, responsible AI, technology governance, or related fields, with a proven track record of leadership.
• Deep understanding of AI/ML technologies, their capabilities, limitations, and societal impacts.
• Expertise in developing and implementing governance frameworks, policies, and compliance programs.
• Excellent strategic thinking, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to navigate complex ethical dilemmas and provide practical, actionable solutions.
