Job Description
Who we are…
GlobalData Healthcare operates an intelligence platform that empowers leaders to act decisively in a world of complexity and change.
By uniting proprietary data, human expertise, and purpose-built AI into a single, connected platform, we help organizations see what’s coming, move faster, and lead with confidence.
Our solutions are used by over 5,000 organizations across the world’s largest industries, delivering tailored intelligence that supports strategic planning, innovation, risk management, and sustainable growth.
Why join GlobalData?
GlobalData Healthcare is GlobalData’s largest division, and at a pivotal point in its growth journey. Following multiple acquisitions and having recently received transformational investment, we are in the process of being carved out from the main GlobalData business. We need curious, ambitious, courageous people to support us in achieving our vision to deliver intelligence that transforms uncertainty into opportunity for the world’s most successful organizations.?
Our big ambitions mean that life at GlobalData Healthcare is fast paced, entrepreneurial and rewarding. Working together in an intellectually challenging environment, where learning is super-charged to keep us on our toes, the highly stimulating, fast-paced, global environment we operate in, and our bold ambitions result in unique learning opportunities for our people.
The role…
GlobalData Healthcare is building an AI-enabled competitive intelligence platform for the pharmaceutical market. It supports our consulting teams in tracking competitor drugs, clinical trials, regulatory decisions and market news for pharma clients, combining GlobalData's data, continuous monitoring of external sources, AI-assisted analysis and the expertise of our consultants. The platform runs on AWS, with a Python and PostgreSQL back end and a React front end. We are forming a small Birmingham-based team to develop and run it.
You will lead the development of the AI and machine learning capabilities in the platform: models and LLM workflows that filter and prioritise incoming news and regulatory updates, draft sourced intelligence briefings for consultants to review, and extract structured information from documents. You will take these from early pilots to reliable production services on AWS, and set the approach the wider team takes to building with AI.
What you’ll be doing…
Design, build and run AI and machine learning features in production, including LLM-based workflows.
Define how model quality is measured, and make sure changes are tested before they are released.
Balance quality, reliability and running cost when choosing models and approaches.
Work with consultants and business users to understand where AI can add value and what 'good' looks like.
Provide technical leadership on AI to the rest of the team, including code review and standards.
What we’re looking for…
Essential
At least 2 years' experience delivering LLM or machine learning solutions into production, not only prototypes.
Strong Python, and good working knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
Sound understanding of model evaluation, and of when a simpler approach is the better choice.
Experience with retrieval, embeddings and working with unstructured text.
Hands-on experience with AWS AI services, in particular Amazon Bedrock and SageMaker.
Able to lead technically and explain trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.
Desirable
Background in life sciences, healthcare or market intelligence.
In addition to a rewarding career, we support our GlobalData Heathcare colleagues with a range of benefits across health, finances, fitness, travel, tech and more. To find out more about the roles and benefits on offer in your region, visit (url removed)
