About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and reliable Aircraft Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Technician to maintain and repair essential equipment at their facility in Plymouth, Devon, UK . This role is vital for ensuring the smooth and safe operation of ground services, including baggage handling, aircraft towing, and cargo loading. You will be responsible for the preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of a wide range of specialized vehicles and machinery used on the tarmac. This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives in a practical, operational environment and plays a key part in keeping aviation services running efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and diagnostic checks on various types of aircraft ground support equipment, including tow tractors, loaders, and maintenance platforms.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on GSE, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum operational readiness.
• Maintain accurate service records, work orders, and inventory of parts and supplies for all GSE maintenance activities.
• Ensure all GSE operations comply with safety regulations and company policies, promoting a safe working environment on the airfield.
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and emergencies to restore functionality as quickly as possible.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a technician or mechanic, preferably with exposure to heavy machinery, vehicles, or aviation ground equipment.
• Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electrical troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic information.
• A valid driver's license is required; specific licenses for operating heavy machinery may be advantageous.
• Physical ability to work in various weather conditions, lift heavy components, and perform tasks at height or in confined spaces as needed within the Plymouth operational area.
