Aircraft Mechanical Systems Engineer

About the Role

Our client seeks a proficient Aircraft Mechanical Systems Engineer to join their engineering division in Bristol . This role is central to the design, development, and testing of critical mechanical systems such as landing gear, fuel systems, and actuation systems. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure these systems meet stringent performance, safety, and reliability standards essential for aircraft operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles and a proven ability to tackle complex challenges within the demanding aerospace sector . This hybrid role offers both on-site project engagement and remote work flexibility.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical systems including hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and landing gear.
• Perform detailed mechanical analysis, including stress, thermal, and vibration analysis, using relevant software tools.
• Create and maintain engineering drawings, specifications, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Collaborate with manufacturing and supply chain teams to ensure component manufacturability and quality.
• Conduct system testing, validation, and verification activities, troubleshooting issues as they arise.
• Ensure all designs and components comply with aerospace standards and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in aircraft mechanical systems design .
• Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SOLIDWORKS) and CAE tools for analysis (e.g., ANSYS, Nastran).
• Strong understanding of fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, materials science, and machine design.
• Experience with system integration and testing of complex mechanical assemblies.
• Familiarity with aerospace regulations and certification processes.
