Aircraft Structures Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Aircraft Structures Engineer to join their team based in Plymouth . This on-site role is crucial for ensuring the integrity and airworthiness of aircraft structures. You will be responsible for analyzing, designing, and testing structural components, contributing to the safety and performance of aircraft throughout their lifecycle. This position requires a strong foundation in structural mechanics and a meticulous approach to engineering challenges within the dynamic aviation industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform stress analysis and structural integrity assessments on aircraft components and assemblies using FEA software.
• Design and modify aircraft structures, including fuselage, wings, and control surfaces, to meet performance and safety requirements.
• Develop detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturing instructions.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and maintenance teams to address structural issues and implement repair solutions.
• Conduct non-destructive testing (NDT) and evaluate results to ensure structural integrity.
• Ensure all structural designs and analyses comply with relevant aviation regulations and standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related structural engineering field.
• Proven experience in aircraft structural analysis and design .
• Proficiency with structural analysis tools such as ANSYS, NASTRAN, or equivalent FEA software.
• Strong understanding of aerospace materials, fatigue, fracture mechanics, and composite structures.
• Ability to interpret and apply aviation certification requirements (e.g., EASA, FAA).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail for critical engineering tasks.
