About the Role

Our client requires an experienced Aircraft Structures Mechanic to join their engineering team based in Sunderland . This role is pivotal in maintaining the structural integrity of aircraft, involving the repair and maintenance of airframes, wings, and fuselage components. You will be responsible for executing repairs to the highest standards, ensuring the safety and performance of the aircraft. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled mechanic to contribute to a reputable aviation company in Tyne and Wear, working with a variety of aircraft types.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect aircraft structures for damage, wear, and corrosion, performing necessary repairs.
• Repair or replace damaged or defective aircraft structural components using appropriate materials and techniques.
• Interpret structural repair manuals and engineering drawings to execute repairs accurately.
• Perform non-destructive testing (NDT) as required to assess structural integrity.
• Document all structural maintenance and repair work in compliance with company and regulatory standards.

Requirements

• Significant experience as an Aircraft Structures Mechanic or Sheet Metal Worker in aviation.
• Proficiency in working with various aircraft materials, including aluminum alloys, composites, and titanium.
• Ability to interpret structural repair manuals, blueprints, and technical specifications.
• Skilled in using sheet metal tools, welding equipment, and riveting techniques.
• Strong understanding of aviation safety regulations and adherence to strict quality control procedures.
