About the Role
Our client is seeking a hardworking and motivated Arable Farm Operative to join their team on their farm located near Stoke-on-Trent . This role involves active participation in all aspects of arable crop cultivation, from field preparation and planting to crop maintenance and harvesting. You will operate and maintain a range of modern farm machinery and equipment, ensuring efficiency and safety. The ideal candidate will have a passion for agriculture, a good work ethic, and the ability to follow instructions accurately to contribute to the successful production of high-quality crops. This is a hands-on role that requires physical fitness and a commitment to the daily tasks of farming.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain tractors, combines, and other arable farming machinery safely and efficiently.
- Perform tasks related to crop establishment, including ploughing, drilling, and spraying.
- Monitor crop health and condition, reporting any issues to the farm manager.
- Assist with harvesting operations, ensuring crops are collected and stored correctly.
- Carry out general farm maintenance, including fencing and building repairs.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and farm protocols.
- Contribute to the implementation of sustainable farming practices .
Requirements
- Previous experience working on an arable farm is essential.
- Proficiency in operating agricultural machinery and equipment.
- A valid UK driving license and ideally a Certificate of Competence for pesticide application.
- Good understanding of crop growth cycles and basic agronomy.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow instructions precisely.
- Physical fitness and a willingness to undertake manual labour in various weather conditions.
