Arboricultural Consultant

About the Role

Our client is seeking a qualified Arboricultural Consultant to join their environmental consultancy team based in Birmingham . This role involves providing expert advice on tree management, preservation, and risk assessment for a variety of clients, including local authorities, developers, and private landowners. You will conduct detailed tree surveys, produce comprehensive reports, and advise on best practices for tree care and protection, playing a crucial role in balancing development needs with the conservation of valuable urban and rural treescapes, ensuring the health and longevity of significant tree populations.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed tree condition surveys, hazard assessments, and decay detection using specialized equipment.
• Prepare professional arboricultural reports for planning applications, development projects, and tree care strategies.
• Provide expert witness testimony and advice on tree-related disputes and legal matters.
• Develop tree protection plans and management strategies to safeguard trees during construction and development.
• Advise clients on best practices for tree pruning, disease management, and species selection.
• Liaise with local authorities, planning officers, and other stakeholders to ensure regulatory compliance.

Requirements

• Professional qualification in Arboriculture (e.g., RFS Certificate or Diploma in Arboriculture, or equivalent).
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in practical arboriculture or consultancy.
• Thorough understanding of tree biology, pathology, and biomechanics.
• Proficiency in producing high-quality arboricultural reports and plans.
• Knowledge of planning policies and legislation relating to trees in the UK.
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
