Arboricultural Officer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Arboricultural Officer to join their remote-first environmental team. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for the management, preservation, and protection of trees and woodlands within urban and rural settings. You will conduct site surveys, assess tree health, and advise on best practices for tree care, planting, and removal, ensuring compliance with local legislation and conservation goals. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed tree surveys, risk assessments, and health checks for public and private land.
• Develop and implement tree planting, maintenance, and management programmes in line with council policies.
• Provide expert advice on tree-related planning applications and consultations, ensuring tree protection measures are upheld.
• Investigate and respond to public enquiries and complaints regarding trees and woodland issues.
• Monitor the health and condition of trees, identifying and recommending treatment for pests and diseases.
• Liaise with internal departments, external agencies, contractors, and the public on all aspects of arboriculture.

Requirements

• A relevant qualification in Arboriculture, Forestry, or a closely related discipline (e.g., RFS Certificate in Arboriculture, L4 Diploma).
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in professional arboricultural practice or consultancy.
• Strong understanding of tree identification, physiology, pests, diseases, and decay processes.
• Familiarity with relevant legislation, British Standards (e.g., BS5837), and tree preservation orders.
• Ability to conduct detailed surveys and produce comprehensive, technical reports.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with diverse stakeholders remotely.
