Assistant Civil Engineer - Rail Projects

About the Role

Our client is seeking an eager Assistant Civil Engineer to join their dedicated rail infrastructure team in Wolverhampton . Working within a hybrid model, you will contribute to the design, planning, and execution of vital rail projects, including track enhancements, station upgrades, and associated civil structures. This role provides an excellent foundation for a developing engineer, offering exposure to complex engineering challenges and the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals. Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the design and development of rail infrastructure elements, such as platforms, bridges, and earthworks.
• Prepare technical documentation, including design calculations , drawings, and reports under supervision.
• Support site investigations and surveys to gather data for project planning and design.
• Collaborate with senior engineers and project managers on the implementation of rail projects.
• Ensure designs comply with Network Rail standards and other relevant railway engineering specifications.
• Participate in site visits and inspections to monitor construction progress and quality.
• Assist in the preparation of health and safety documentation for rail projects.

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Some experience in civil engineering design or construction, preferably within the rail sector.
• Familiarity with CAD software and an interest in railway engineering.
• Good understanding of structural principles and construction methods.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work in a hybrid environment.
• A proactive approach to learning and problem-solving.
• Understanding of Network Rail standards is advantageous.
