Assistant Financial Accountant

About the Role

Our client is seeking an diligent and organised Assistant Financial Accountant to support their finance department in Milton Keynes . This role offers an excellent opportunity for an early-career accountant to gain broad experience in financial accounting, reporting, and compliance. You will assist in the preparation of financial statements, manage general ledger functions, and contribute to month-end close processes. This position is ideal for someone eager to learn, develop their accounting skills, and contribute positively to a supportive team environment, with the flexibility of working remotely.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with accounting standards.
• Manage and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring accuracy of all financial transactions.
• Support the month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entry preparation and accrual calculations.
• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions accurately and efficiently.
• Assist with the preparation of tax returns and other regulatory filings.
• Help maintain and improve internal control systems and documentation.

Requirements

• Part-qualified Accountant (working towards ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) or a recent graduate with a strong academic background in accounting or finance.
• 1-3 years of experience in an accounting or finance role.
• Familiarity with accounting software and proficient in Microsoft Excel (including VLOOKUPs and PivotTables).
• Good understanding of basic accounting principles and practices.
• Strong attention to detail, organisational skills, and the ability to meet deadlines.
