Associate Quantity Surveyor / Employer's Agent

Associate MRICS Quantity Surveyor (PQS) / Employer’s Agent

You already know how to deliver a complex project, manage the JCT suite, and act as a robust Employer’s Agent. This isn't another recruitment advert listing the daily duties of a seasoned PQS.

I am handling a confidential search for an award-winning boutique consultancy in Cambridge that requires an Associate-level PQS who is currently hitting a glass ceiling. This business is not looking for a competent Chartered Surveyor maintainer; they are looking for a future shareholder.

If your current career path is dictated by corporate waiting lists rather than your actual commercial output, this represents a deliberate step into a high-growth environment.

Key Commercial Highlights

• Pipeline: Heavy focus on secured, high-value Healthcare, Education and complex Residential schemes.

• Structure: A dynamic and agile leadership team devoid of traditional corporate red tape. Decisions are made in the room, not passed through three layers of regional management.

• Objective: You will be acting as the lead EA on major regional projects while actively mentoring junior staff and supporting the Directors in expanding their regional footprint.

• Progression: A clearly defined, performance-based route to equity partnership.

The Required Profile

This is an off-market search targeting passive talent who are highly competent but perhaps frustrated with their current firm's agility.

• You must be MRICS qualified with a strong pedigree in private practice PQS.

• Extensive, proven capability operating strictly as an Employer’s Agent.

• Sector expertise in Healthcare, Education or Residential developments is highly prioritised.

Next Steps

This isn't just about filling a vacancy; the Managing Director is looking for their next leadership team. The culture here is highly collaborative, and they want someone who can champion continuous professional development and career progression for the wider team.

In over two decades of mapping the Cambridge built environment market, opportunities with this level of immediate board access and equity potential are exceptionally rare. If you are curious about the true state of the local market and want to benchmark your current role against this, contact me directly.
