Job Description
Autism Specialist Support Staff
We are seeking compassionate, skilled and proactive individuals with specialist knowledge of Autism (ASC) to join a highly regarded SEN school in Bradford. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children with a wide range of communication, sensory and social‑emotional needs, helping them access learning and thrive in a nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Autism‑specific support - using visual timetables, structured routines and clear communication
Deliver personalised strategies for sensory regulation, transitions and emotional support
Work 1:1 or with small groups to develop communication, social interaction and independence
Implement programmes designed by teachers, therapists and SENCOs
Support pupils with behaviour linked to communication or sensory needs
Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and families
Contribute to progress reviews and maintain accurate support records🎓 What We're Looking For
Experience supporting children or young people with Autism (school, care or community settings)
Understanding of sensory processing differences, communication needs and structured teaching approaches
Calm, patient and consistent approach
Ability to follow support plans and work collaboratively
Willingness to undertake training such as Makaton, PECS or autism‑specific CPD
Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
