Automation Electrical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Automation Electrical Engineer to join their operational team in Edinburgh . This role is crucial for designing, implementing, and maintaining the electrical systems that underpin our automated processes and manufacturing facilities. Key Responsibilities

• Design, program, and troubleshoot electrical control systems for automated machinery and production lines.
• Specify and select electrical components, including PLCs, HMIs, sensors, and drives.
• Develop and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant electrical safety standards and regulations (e.g., ATEX, IEC).
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers to integrate electrical and automation solutions into new equipment designs.
• Support the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of automation equipment, troubleshooting issues to minimize downtime.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering , Automation Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience in industrial automation and electrical control system design.
• Proficiency with PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell) and HMI development.
• Strong knowledge of industrial networks, sensors, and variable speed drives.
• Experience with electrical panel design and building.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
