About the Role
Our client is seeking a proficient Automation Electrical Engineer to join their dynamic operations team in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, UK . This role is integral to optimizing and maintaining the electrical and automation systems that underpin their manufacturing processes. You will be responsible for the design, implementation, and troubleshooting of PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems, ensuring maximum uptime and efficiency. The successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of industrial automation technologies and a passion for continuous improvement within a busy production environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, program, and commission PLC , HMI , and SCADA systems for new and existing machinery.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical and automation faults on the production line, minimizing downtime.
- Develop and maintain electrical schematics and control system documentation.
- Implement upgrades and modifications to automation systems to improve performance and efficiency.
- Collaborate with maintenance teams and production staff to identify areas for automation enhancement.
- Ensure all automation solutions adhere to safety standards and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Degree or HND in Electrical Engineering , Automation, or a related technical field.
- Proven experience (3-5 years) in industrial automation, specifically with PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley) and HMI development.
- Experience with SCADA systems and industrial networking protocols (e.g., Profibus, Modbus).
- Solid understanding of electrical control panel design and wiring standards.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and P&ID diagrams.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
