Automation Electrical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Automation Electrical Engineer to enhance their engineering capabilities in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear . This role is integral to designing, implementing, and optimizing automated electrical systems that drive efficiency and performance across manufacturing processes. You will work with state-of-the-art technology, collaborating with a cross-functional team to deliver robust and reliable automation solutions. The ideal candidate will have a passion for control systems and automation, a strong understanding of industrial electrical practices, and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues in a hands-on environment, contributing to operational excellence and technological advancement within the firm.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical control systems for automation projects, including PLC, HMI, and SCADA integration.
• Create electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panel layouts.
• Select appropriate electrical components and ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
• Program and configure PLCs (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley) and VFDs.
• Commission and test automated systems, providing on-site support and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with mechanical and software engineers to ensure seamless system integration.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related automation field.
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in industrial automation and electrical control systems design.
• Proficiency in PLC programming and HMI development.
• Strong knowledge of industrial electrical components, power distribution, and safety standards.
• Experience with robotics and motion control systems is a plus.
