About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Automation Engineer to join their progressive manufacturing operations, based remotely but with occasional site visits to Portsmouth . This role is vital for designing, implementing, and maintaining automated systems that enhance production efficiency, quality, and safety. You will leverage cutting-edge technology to streamline processes, reduce manual intervention, and drive innovation within the manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and program automated systems, including robotics, PLC controllers, and HMI interfaces.
- Integrate new automation technologies into existing production lines and facilities.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with automated equipment and systems, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Conduct feasibility studies and develop project plans for automation initiatives.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to ensure successful implementation and support of automation projects.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including schematics, programming code, and operational manuals.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in automation engineering , preferably within a manufacturing context.
- Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell) and HMI/SCADA systems.
- Experience with robotics programming and integration (e.g., FANUC, KUKA).
- Strong understanding of control systems , sensors, and electrical hardware.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a remote team setting, with occasional travel.
