About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Automotive Chassis Systems Engineer to join their dynamic team in Oxford . This role is responsible for the design, development, and integration of vehicle chassis systems, including suspension, steering, and braking components, to deliver optimal vehicle dynamics, ride comfort, and safety. You will contribute to the engineering of performance-driven vehicles, working within a collaborative environment that pushes the boundaries of automotive engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and validate suspension, steering, and braking systems for new vehicle platforms.
- Perform vehicle dynamics analysis and simulation to optimize ride, handling, and stability characteristics.
- Specify and select chassis components, considering performance, durability, weight, and cost targets.
- Collaborate with CAE engineers to conduct structural and durability analysis of chassis components.
- Develop and execute test plans for chassis systems, including proving ground and public road testing.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and industry standards for chassis systems.
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in automotive chassis design and development.
- Strong knowledge of vehicle dynamics principles, suspension geometry, and steering/braking systems.
- Experience with CAE tools for structural analysis (FEA) and vehicle dynamics simulation (e.g., Adams, CarSim).
- Familiarity with automotive manufacturing processes and materials relevant to chassis components.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
