Automotive Electrical Systems Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented Automotive Electrical Systems Engineer to join their innovative team in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear . This role is integral to the design and implementation of complex electrical architectures within new vehicle models. You will work on cutting-edge technologies, ensuring the seamless integration and functionality of automotive electrical systems, from power distribution to advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS). Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical distribution systems (EDS), including wiring harnesses, connectors, and fuse/relay modules.
• Specify and select electrical components, considering performance, cost, and reliability requirements for automotive applications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers and software developers, to ensure robust system integration.
• Perform circuit analysis, schematic design, and harness routing using specialized engineering software.
• Develop and execute electrical system validation plans, including component and system-level testing.
• Troubleshoot electrical issues during vehicle development and production, implementing effective solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in automotive electrical system design.
• Proficiency in electrical CAD tools (e.g., Mentor Graphics, Zuken E3.series).
• Strong understanding of automotive electrical standards, CAN communication protocols, and diagnostic tools.
• Experience with power electronics and battery management systems is a plus.
• Excellent analytical skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
