Automotive Electrical Technician

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Automotive Electrical Technician to join their specialist diagnostics team in Reading . This role focuses on identifying and rectifying complex electrical and electronic faults in a wide range of vehicles. You will be instrumental in ensuring vehicles are safe and functional, working with state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment and playing a key part in the reputation of the workshop for technical excellence and problem-solving within the automotive sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair a variety of electrical and electronic system faults in vehicles.
• Utilize advanced diagnostic tools and equipment, including oscilloscopes and multimeters.
• Interpret wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and diagnostic reports accurately.
• Install and test electrical components such as sensors, ECUs, and lighting systems.
• Perform software updates and coding for vehicle electronic control units (ECUs).
• Troubleshoot issues related to vehicle networks (CAN bus, LIN bus) and communication systems.

Requirements

• Proven experience as an Automotive Technician with a strong focus on electrical systems.
• In-depth knowledge of automotive electrical circuits, components, and diagnostic procedures.
• Proficiency with electronic diagnostic equipment and software.
• Experience with vehicle networks and programming ECUs is highly desirable.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills for complex electrical issues.
• Relevant automotive electrical qualifications (e.g., IMI Level 3 or higher).
