Automotive Electrician

About the Role

Our client is looking for a skilled Automotive Electrician to join their busy service center in Newcastle upon Tyne . In this role, you will specialize in diagnosing and repairing complex electrical faults in a variety of vehicles. You will be instrumental in ensuring that vehicle electrical systems, from lighting to advanced engine management, are functioning correctly and safely. This position offers a great opportunity to work with modern vehicle technology in a team-oriented environment, contributing significantly to the overall service quality of the garage, working flexibly between workshop and occasional remote diagnostic support.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair automotive electrical systems, including wiring harnesses, lighting, batteries, alternators, and starter motors.
• Install and troubleshoot electrical components such as sensors, ECUs, and in-car entertainment systems.
• Utilize specialized diagnostic equipment to identify electrical faults and their root causes.
• Perform software updates and re-coding of vehicle control modules as required.
• Conduct pre-delivery inspections, focusing on electrical system integrity.
• Maintain accurate records of all work performed and parts used.

Requirements

• Proven experience as an Automotive Electrician or a highly skilled Automotive Technician with an electrical focus.
• Strong knowledge of vehicle electrical principles and diagnostic procedures.
• Experience with automotive diagnostic software and scan tools.
• Familiarity with CAN bus systems and other vehicle networks.
• A keen eye for detail and methodical approach to fault finding.
• Hold a full UK driving license.
