Automotive Electrician

About the Role

Our client is seeking a qualified and detail-oriented Automotive Electrician to join their busy workshop in Stoke-on-Trent . This role focuses on the diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of complex electrical systems in a variety of vehicles. You will be responsible for troubleshooting wiring harnesses, electronic control units (ECUs), and related components to ensure vehicle safety and performance. Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose electrical faults using advanced diagnostic equipment and interpret wiring diagrams.
• Repair or replace faulty electrical components, including batteries, alternators, starters, and ECUs.
• Install and troubleshoot electronic accessories, lighting systems, and vehicle security systems.
• Perform diagnostic checks on vehicle CAN bus systems and other network communications.
• Ensure all electrical work complies with relevant safety standards and manufacturer specifications.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and parts used.

Requirements

• Proven experience as an Automotive Electrician or similar role.
• Strong understanding of vehicle electrical systems, including low voltage and high voltage systems where applicable.
• Proficiency in using automotive diagnostic tools and multimeters.
• Ability to read and interpret complex wiring schematics and technical manuals.
• Relevant qualifications such as an NVQ Level 3 in Automotive Electrical Systems or equivalent.
• Good problem-solving skills and a methodical approach to diagnostics.
