About the Role

Our client is looking for a skilled Automotive Electrician to join their dedicated team in Portsmouth . In this specialised role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining the complex electrical systems of modern vehicles. You will work with cutting-edge diagnostic equipment to identify faults in everything from lighting and battery systems to advanced electronic control units (ECUs) and infotainment systems . Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair faults in vehicle electrical systems, including wiring harnesses, lighting, alternators, starters, and batteries.
• Install, maintain, and repair electronic components such as sensors, ECUs, navigation systems, and audio equipment.
• Utilise diagnostic software and multimeters to pinpoint electrical issues accurately.
• Perform electrical system upgrades and modifications as required.
• Ensure all electrical work complies with manufacturer specifications and safety standards.
• Maintain accurate records of diagnoses, repairs, and parts used.
• Advise customers on electrical maintenance and potential future issues.

Requirements

• Proven experience as an Automotive Electrician or in a similar electrical repair role.
• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Automotive Electrical Systems or a related discipline.
• Strong understanding of DC circuits, automotive wiring, and electronic components.
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools, oscilloscopes, and multimeters.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
