About the Role

Our client is looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Senior Automotive Paint Sprayer to join their busy bodyshop in Portsmouth . This role involves preparing vehicles for painting, applying high-quality finishes, and ensuring a perfect colour match and smooth application. As a senior member of the team, you will be expected to maintain the highest standards of workmanship, adhere to health and safety regulations, and potentially guide less experienced sprayers. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, a passion for achieving flawless results, and a strong understanding of paint chemistry and application techniques within the automotive sector. This is a hands-on role vital to the cosmetic repair and restoration process.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare vehicle surfaces for painting, including sanding, masking, and priming.
• Mix paints to precise colour specifications, ensuring consistency and accuracy.
• Apply primer, basecoat, and clearcoat finishes using spray guns, achieving an even and flawless finish.
• Conduct colour-matching assessments to ensure seamless integration with existing paintwork.
• Inspect finished paintwork for defects and perform necessary rectifications.
• Maintain spray booths, equipment, and tools to ensure optimal performance and cleanliness.
• Adhere strictly to health and safety procedures, including the safe handling of chemicals and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Assist in training and mentoring junior paint sprayers as required.

Requirements

• Proven experience as an Automotive Paint Sprayer , with significant experience in a senior capacity.
• Expertise in using various paint systems and spray application equipment.
• Strong understanding of surface preparation, priming, colour matching, and finishing techniques.
• Knowledge of paint chemistry and the properties of different coatings.
• Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Ability to work efficiently and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
