About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly motivated Automotive Performance Engineer to contribute to exciting new projects from their Leeds base. This role focuses on optimizing vehicle performance through advanced data analysis, simulation, and testing. You will work on cutting-edge automotive technology, collaborating with design and engineering teams to enhance vehicle dynamics, power delivery, and overall driving experience. This is a contract position offering flexibility and the chance to apply your expertise to innovative automotive solutions in a remote-friendly capacity, pushing the boundaries of what's possible in vehicle engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze performance data from vehicle testing and simulations to identify areas for improvement.
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance engine performance, chassis dynamics, and powertrain efficiency.
- Utilize simulation software (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, AVL Cruise) for performance modeling and prediction.
- Collaborate with design engineers to integrate performance-enhancing components and systems.
- Conduct and oversee real-world vehicle testing, documenting results and providing actionable insights.
- Prepare detailed technical reports and presentations on performance findings and recommendations.
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in automotive performance engineering , ideally with a focus on powertrain or vehicle dynamics.
- Strong understanding of internal combustion engines, electric powertrains, and vehicle dynamics principles.
- Proficiency in simulation and data analysis tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, or equivalent.
- Experience with data acquisition systems and test instrumentation.
- Ability to work autonomously and manage projects effectively in a remote setting.
