Automotive Powertrain Calibration Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Automotive Powertrain Calibration Engineer to join their dynamic engineering team in Liverpool . You will be responsible for optimizing the performance, emissions, and fuel economy of vehicle powertrains through precise calibration of engine control units (ECUs). This role requires a deep understanding of internal combustion engines, control systems, and calibration tools. You will work hands-on with vehicles and dynamometers, ensuring that our client's powertrains meet the highest standards of efficiency and performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Calibrate engine control modules (ECMs) to optimize performance, fuel economy, and emissions targets.
• Develop and execute test plans on engine dynamometers and in-vehicle testing scenarios.
• Analyze test data and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and fine-tune calibration parameters.
• Work closely with engine development and software teams to implement calibration strategies.
• Troubleshoot and resolve powertrain performance issues related to calibration.
• Stay current with emissions regulations and powertrain technologies .

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience in automotive powertrain calibration, with a strong understanding of engine operation.
• Proficiency with powertrain calibration tools and software (e.g., INCA, ETAS, MATLAB/Simulink).
• Experience with data acquisition systems and analysis of engine performance data.
• Knowledge of internal combustion engine principles, thermodynamics, and control strategies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail in a test environment .
