About the Role
Our client is looking for a dynamic Automotive Powertrain Engineer to join their established team in Edinburgh . This role is critical to the design, development, and optimization of vehicle powertrain systems, focusing on performance, efficiency, and emissions. You will be involved in all stages of the powertrain lifecycle, from concept to production, working closely with specialist teams to deliver advanced powertrain solutions. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced engineer to contribute to the development of next-generation powertrain technologies in a hands-on capacity.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and test automotive powertrain components and systems (e.g., engines, transmissions, hybrid systems).
- Conduct performance simulations and analysis to optimize efficiency, power output, and emissions.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and supply chain teams to ensure manufacturability and cost-effectiveness.
- Troubleshoot and resolve powertrain-related issues during development and testing phases.
- Develop and maintain detailed technical documentation, specifications, and validation plans.
- Stay updated on emerging powertrain technologies and industry trends.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in automotive powertrain development.
- Strong understanding of internal combustion engines, electric powertrains, or hybrid systems.
- Proficiency with simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, GT-SUITE) and data acquisition systems.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Experience with vehicle testing and validation procedures is essential.
