Automotive Powertrain Engineer

About the Role

Our client is looking for an experienced Automotive Powertrain Engineer to join their hybrid team in Edinburgh . This role focuses on the design, development, and optimization of vehicle powertrain systems, including internal combustion engines, hybrid systems, and electric powertrains. You will contribute to creating more efficient, powerful, and environmentally friendly automotive solutions. Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop components and systems for advanced automotive powertrains (ICE, Hybrid, EV).
• Conduct performance analysis, simulations, and testing to optimize powertrain efficiency, emissions, and drivability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including chassis, electrical, and manufacturing, to ensure system integration.
• Develop and validate powertrain control strategies and calibration parameters.
• Specify and evaluate new technologies and components to enhance powertrain performance and sustainability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve powertrain-related issues encountered during development, testing, or production phases.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in automotive powertrain design, development, or testing.
• Solid understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and engine/motor technologies.
• Experience with simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, GT-SUITE) for powertrain modeling.
• Familiarity with powertrain control systems and calibration processes.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment, both on-site and remotely.
