Automotive Powertrain Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented and experienced Automotive Powertrain Engineer to join their innovative and progressive team, based in Leeds , operating on a fully remote basis. This role is focused on the development and optimization of advanced powertrain systems, including internal combustion engines, hybrid systems, and electric powertrains. You will be instrumental in driving the performance, efficiency, and emissions targets for future vehicle platforms. We are looking for an individual with a deep technical understanding of powertrain engineering principles and a passion for sustainable automotive solutions, contributing to groundbreaking projects in a collaborative remote environment .

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and calibrate engine or electric motor control systems for optimal performance and efficiency.
• Conduct simulations and analyze test data to evaluate powertrain component and system performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including vehicle integration, thermal management, and manufacturing, to ensure successful powertrain development.
• Develop and implement strategies for reducing emissions and improving fuel economy in automotive applications.
• Research and evaluate emerging powertrain technologies and their potential application.
• Prepare technical specifications, reports, and presentations on powertrain development progress and findings.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in automotive powertrain development or a closely related field.
• Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and engine/electric motor technologies.
• Experience with powertrain simulation tools (e.g., GT-Power, MATLAB/Simulink) and data analysis software.
• Knowledge of hybrid and electric vehicle architectures and components.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fully remote setting.
