About the Role
Our client is looking for a skilled and experienced Automotive Powertrain Engineer to join their dynamic team in Stoke-on-Trent . This role focuses on the design, development, and optimization of vehicle powertrain systems, including engines, transmissions, and hybrid/electric drivetrains. You will collaborate with a dedicated team of engineers, contributing to the performance, efficiency, and emissions targets of future vehicle platforms. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and test vehicle powertrain components and systems.
- Analyze powertrain performance data and implement improvements for efficiency and emissions reduction.
- Collaborate with external suppliers and internal teams on powertrain integration and calibration.
- Develop and execute test plans for powertrain validation, both in simulation and on physical test benches.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant automotive regulations and standards.
- Contribute to the specification and selection of new powertrain technologies.
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Substantial experience (6+ years) in automotive powertrain development.
- In-depth knowledge of internal combustion engines, hybrid systems, or electric powertrains.
- Proficiency with powertrain simulation tools (e.g., GT-SUITE, AVL-FIRE) and data acquisition systems.
- Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and control systems.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
