About the Role
Our client is seeking a talented Automotive Software Engineer to join their dedicated team based in Cardiff, Wales . You will play a crucial role in developing and implementing software solutions for cutting-edge automotive systems, including infotainment, driver assistance, and vehicle control units. This role requires a deep understanding of embedded systems and software development lifecycles within the automotive industry. You will collaborate closely with hardware engineers, system architects, and quality assurance teams to deliver robust, reliable, and high-performance software that shapes the future of driving.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and deploy embedded software for automotive applications using languages like C/C++ and Python.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define software requirements, architecture, and detailed design.
- Implement and optimize software components for real-time operating systems (RTOS) and microcontrollers.
- Perform code reviews, unit testing, and integration testing to ensure software quality and reliability.
- Debug and resolve software defects found during development, testing, and in production environments.
- Contribute to the development of automotive communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, and Ethernet.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in embedded software development, preferably within the automotive sector.
- Strong proficiency in C/C++ programming languages and experience with scripting languages like Python.
- Familiarity with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and microcontroller architectures.
- Knowledge of automotive software development processes (e.g., Automotive SPICE) and standards.
- Experience with software development tools, including version control systems (e.g., Git) and debugging tools.
