Aviation Security Officer

About the Role

Our client requires a vigilant and professional Aviation Security Officer to ensure the safety and security of passengers, staff, and assets at their facilities in Brighton . This critical role involves monitoring security systems, conducting patrols, screening individuals and baggage, and responding effectively to security incidents. You will be a key member of the team responsible for maintaining a secure environment within the airport or aviation-related site, upholding stringent security protocols and contributing to the overall safety of air travel. This is an on-site position demanding integrity, alertness, and a commitment to public safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct screening of passengers, baggage, and cargo using advanced security equipment (e.g., X-ray scanners, metal detectors).
• Perform regular security patrols of airport facilities, terminals, and restricted areas to detect and deter unauthorized access or suspicious activity.
• Monitor CCTV systems and alarm activations, responding promptly and appropriately to security alerts.
• Enforce security regulations and procedures, challenging individuals who violate protocols.
• Identify and report potential security threats, suspicious behavior, or safety hazards to the appropriate authorities.
• Provide assistance and information to passengers and staff, maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a security role, preferably within an airport or high-security environment.
• Valid SIA (Security Industry Authority) license or the ability to obtain one.
• Thorough understanding of aviation security procedures and regulations (e.g., DfT requirements).
• Excellent observation skills and the ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with the public and colleagues.
• Physical fitness to perform duties, including standing for extended periods and potentially operating screening equipment.
