Blockchain Protocol Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Blockchain Protocol Engineer to join their core engineering team in Sheffield . You will be at the forefront of developing and optimizing the foundational layers of our blockchain network, focusing on consensus mechanisms, network security, and scalability. This role is perfect for an individual with a deep understanding of computer science fundamentals and a passion for building robust, high-performance distributed systems within the crypto and blockchain space.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and refine core blockchain protocols and consensus algorithms.
• Develop and maintain high-performance, secure, and scalable network infrastructure.
• Contribute to the development of smart contracts and on-chain governance mechanisms.
• Conduct performance analysis and optimization of the blockchain network.
• Collaborate with researchers and other engineers to explore and implement novel blockchain solutions in the decentralized technology domain.

Requirements

• Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in Computer Science, Cryptography, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Significant experience in systems programming and distributed systems design.
• Deep understanding of cryptographic principles, network protocols, and blockchain architecture .
• Proficiency in languages such as C++, Go, or Rust.
• Experience with research and development in the blockchain or cryptocurrency fields is highly desirable.
